All rollators are not alike. There is a wide variety of choices available and it is important to pick one that is right for you.
- Size is probably the most important feature. The rollator should fit you comfortably so that you can use it safely and efficiently. Handle height on rollators is adjustable, with some Petite or Junior rollators as low as 28" and Tall rollators as high as 40". Most rollators have a 2"-6" height adjustment range and there is a lot of overlap between models, so there is a lot of flexibility in choosing your rollator.
- Larger wheels are easier to push, especially over rougher terrain. Small solid wheels are suitable for indoor use.
- Rollators with 3 wheels are more maneuverable but less stable than 4 wheel rollators.
- Steel is stronger but aluminum is lighter.
- Push down brakes are operated by downward pressure on the spring loaded brakes when you lean on the rollator frame. Cable loop brakes are similar to bicycle brakes. They are operated by simultaneously squeezing both brakes. A locking loop brake can be pushed down to lock them in position. This is necessary when using the rollator seat.
